Sequel - Sequel is an object-oriented wrapper for ODBC implementation for Win32 platforms. It means that the ODBC API is wrapped into classes, which represent all data structures and routines needed to work with databases with taken of SQL. The goal was to create fast and efficient database engine based on the SQL standard providing the same interface for different database systems, which are capable to support SQL - e.g. Oracle, MS SQL Server and MS Access. Till today there are many database engines, but almost all of them are either too much difficult to understand or they are not so much fast because they are too much complex - e.g. by utilizing visual database components. Moreover not all application can take a sense advantage of database components - e.g. active server pages.

Sequel is written as an automation object - the COM server. This means, that you can use it with any programming language, which can take advantage of COM. Because of this, the area of usability covers programming with e.g. Delphi, C++ Builder, Visual Studio, Visual Basic Scripting and creating of active server pages. As it is apparent from this text, you can use both bindings - early and late. This gives you the possibility to choose how tight to bind your applications to ODBC.

ODBC itself is a low-level programming interface, while Sequel is the high-level one. This guarantees that your application will work with the database directly without any detour via third database provider/engine. In other words, with Sequel you're getting a high level interface for low-level database API with maximum universality without any ballast causing a slow down.

Sequel is so much simple as possible to achieve the maximum performance. This results into the less count of database methods, which are logically implemented as objects' methods, simply uniform data handling and utilizing all of features provided by a database system in the SQL way.

1. RECITALS

"SOFTWARE PRODUCT" shall mean all files you have obtained with this file.

"REGISTRATION CODE" shall mean a sequence of digits and/or chars that is being accepted by the SOFTWARE PRODUCT as a valid and giving the right to use SOFTWARE PRODUCT to the maximum specified extent. The SOFTWARE PRODUCT will draw this out in way that is described in its reference guide.

Sequel License Agreement

1. RECITALS

"SOFTWARE PRODUCT" shall mean all files you have obtained with this file.

REGISTRATION CODE may be also referenced as a "LICENSE" within the SOFTWARE PRODUCT.

"AUTHORIZED USE" shall mean using performed by an owner of appropriate REGISTRATION CODE.

"AUTHOR" shall mean the author of the SOFTWARE PRODUCTS and holder of its rights.

"ENTERPRISE VERSION" shall mean a special version of SOFTWARE PRODUCT with special features.

"DEFAULT BUILD" shall mean the Win32 dynamic link library realized as the sequel.dll file that is being shipped within the Sequel SDK package.

"FULL FUNCTIONALITY" shall mean the functionally of DEFAULT BUILD.

"SOURCE CODE FUNCTIONALITY" shall mean the FULL FUNCTIONALITY with modified behavior of all licensing-related functionality.

"SOURCE CODE" shall mean all files, which are necessary to build dynamic link library with SOURCE CODE FUNCTIONALITY.

2. FREE USE

The SOFTWARE PRODUCT can be used as a freeware - i.e. with the $0.0 price under these conditions:

Any software using Sequel must legibly display its use and its origin - http://www.rawos.com/odbc.

If being used for testing purposes, it can be tested only one month since its first installation.

If being used for educational purposes, any application developed during an educational process and using SOFTWARE PRODUCT can not be distributed without full source of such application.

If being used for application development, a right develop software with taken of one computer where SOFTWARE PRODUCT is installed is granted. This right ends with ownership of at least one REGISTRATION CODE for development purposes. The total sum of users of SOFTWARE PRODUCT or application using SOFTWARE PRODUCT is in this case limited to one.

SOFTWARE PRODUCT can be used only for testing purposes or for educational purposes or for development purposes.

Disassembling or remitting the SOFTWARE PRODUCT to the process of reverse engineering in any way is prohibited.

SOFTWARE PRODUCT still draws out its unregistered status.

When not being used for development purposes, the count of computers where SOFTWARE PRODUCT can be deployed is not limited.ff

3. REGISTRATION CODE USE

Any other use, except the ENTERPRISE VERSION of SOFTWARE PRODUCT is conditioned by ownership of REGISTRATION CODE. The REGISTRATION CODE may be used in any count of its copies as desired ONLY by its rightful owner.

There are 3 categories of REGISTRATION CODEs:

REGISTRATION CODE for developers authorizing them to create applications using SOFTWARE PRODUCT.

REGISTRATION CODE for limited number of end-users of applications using SOFTWARE PRODUCT.

REGISTRATION CODE for unlimited number of end-users of applications using SOFTWARE PRODUCT.

Except the third category, each license determines a number of computers where SOFTWARE PRODUCT can be installed and used.

When an application using SOFTWARE PRODUCT is being developed, an appropriate amount of REGISTRATION CODEs for developers must be owned, so that total sum of licensed computers is equal or higher than number of computers, which are being used for this development and where the SOFTWARE PRODUCT is being used for this purpose.

When an application using SOFTWARE PRODUCT is being sold, an appropriate amount of REGISTRATION CODEs for end-users must be owned, so that total sum of licensed computers is equal or higher than number of computers, where the SOFTWARE PRODUCT is installed. You may use only one of your REGISTRATION CODEs for all distributions of application using SOFTWARE PRODUCT. If you are unable to determine maximum number of computers, where SOFTWARE PRODUCT is installed to be used by your application, you must own REGISTRATION CODE for unlimited number of end-users. When installing SOFTWARE PRODUCT and registering it with REGISTRATION CODE on end-user's computer, you must take care not to show REGISTRATION CODE.

Any illegally obtained REGISTRATION CODE, or REGISTRATION CODE obtained without a permission of its previous owner is not valid and prohibited for use for any purpose.

4. LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR REGISTRATION CODE

You may not publish any REGISTRATION CODE, including its backup copy, to anyone and continue to use such REGISTRATION CODE. You may create backup copies of each REGISTRATION CODE for your AUTHORIZED USE only. If you publish any REGISTRATION CODE to anyone else, then you can not use the REGISTRATION CODE anymore and you must destroy any backup copy of such REGISTRATION CODE you have. If you would like to publish any REGISTRATION CODE to someone else, you must ensure that he/she/company/group read this agreement and agreed to comply with all rules stated in it.

Disassembling or remitting the REGISTRATION CODE and/or the SOFTWARE PRODUCT to the process of reverse engineering in any way is prohibited.

This may vary according to your law.

5. ENTERPRISE VERSION

The ENTERPRISE VERSION doesn't contain any mechanism to verify if SOFTWARE PRODUCT is properly registered. It also contains SOURCE CODE of SOFTWARE PRODUCT.

You may not publish any part of SOURCE CODE, including its backup copy, to anyone except yourself. You may create backup copies of each part of SOURCE CODE for your AUTHORIZED USE only. If you would like to publish the SOURCE CODE to someone else, you must ensure that he/she/company/group read this file and agreed to comply with all rules stated in it. By publishing the SOURCE CODE you lose any right to continue using the SOURCE CODE. You can manage each of your copies of SOURCE CODE separately in this way.

If you modify any part of your SOURCE CODE copy, then it is your one and you can do everything you want to do with it. But you may not declare it as a part of SOFTWARE PRODUCT. Of course you can declare it as "Based On Sequel", if you wish.

AUTHOR retains title to SOFTWARE PRODUCT, SOURCE CODE and all associated intellectual property rights.

You have the right to alter/change/do anything with your copy of the SOURCE CODE if you comply with all rules stated above.

This agreement is effective until terminated. You may terminate this agreement at any time by destroying all your copies of ENTERPRISE VERSION. This agreement will terminate immediately without notice from AUTHOR if you fail to comply with any provision of this agreement. Upon termination, you must destroy all your copies of ENTERPRISE VERSION.

AUTHOR is not liable for any damage that can be done by using the ENTERPRISE VERSION. The SOURCE CODE is guaranteed to have the SOURCE CODE FUNCTIONALITY.

You're accepting this part of agreement by purchasing/obtaining and/or using any part of the ENTERPRISE VERSION.

6. WARRANTY AND DAMAGES

AUTHOR does not take any responsibility of possible direct or indirect damage caused by the SOFTWARE PRODUCT. The SOFTWARE PRODUCT using one or more REGISTRATION CODEs is guaranteed to behave as the one that doesn't use any REGISTRATION CODE, except all changes conditioned by using a REGISTRATION CODE, and nothing else.

This may vary according to your law.

7. HIGH RISK ACTIVITIES

The SOFTWARE PRODUCT is not designed or intended for use in on-line control of aircraft, air traffic, aircraft navigation or aircraft communications; or in the design, construction, operation or maintenance of any nuclear facility; or in the design, operation or maintenance of any facility whose malfunction can cause a lost of human life or a damage of life environment; or in the design, operation or maintenance of any weapon system. AUTHOR disclaims any express or implied warranty of fitness for such uses. If you plan to use SOFTWARE PRODUCT for high risk activity anyway, you should let AUTHOR to know about it. In such case it is also recommended to obtain the ENTERPRISE VERSION.

8. GENERAL STATEMENTS

AUTHOR retains title to SOFTWARE PRODUCT and all associated intellectual property rights.

Disassembling or remitting the SOFTWARE PRODUCT or a REGISTRATION CODE to the process of reverse engineering in any way is prohibited.

You're accepting all rules stated in this agreement by using the SOFTWARE PRODUCT.

If your local law doesn't allow you to comply with all rules stated in this agreement, you are not allowed to use SOFTWARE PRODUCT. In such case you should contact AUTHOR.

This SOFTWARE PRODUCT is protected by copyright law and international treaties. Violating any rule stated in this agreement may result into severe civil and criminal penalties, and will be prosecuted to the maximum extent possible under law.
